explanation
A writer will use hyperbole to add some fun and emphasis to make their point. In this example, the character is taking the situation to the extreme. The cartoon character is almost frowning and is possibly interpreted as a teacher. The statement, "I will literally die" suggests that the teacher thinks it is very serious that the student is not using hyperbole correctly. In this way, the exaggeration is extreme. Of course the teacher won't die if the student doesn't use the literary feature correctly but the extra emphasis adds weight to the importance of the correct use.
